The Impact Artists Gallery is saddened by the loss of Pamela Mann

Death Notice

Pamela Marguerite MANN

  |   Visit Guest Book

MANN – Pamela Marguerite Age 50, artist and disabled-rights advocate, died Thursday April 12, 2012 after a brief illness. She was the beloved daughter of the late Janice and Arthur Mann; cherished by her sister Elisabeth, sister in law Christine Van Veghten; and her best friend Cheryl Fuller; loved by her aunt and uncle Rita and Robert Mann; also survived by cousins and many beloved friends in Girl Scouting, Disabled and GLBT Rights Communities. She was born with cerebral palsy and attended School 84 in Buffalo, NY. She and her late mother pioneered Girl Scouting for disabled students in Buffalo and Erie County. She and her family participated in enforcing legislation regarding services provided to disabled children in WNY school districts. As an adult, she regularly lobbied the government in Albany and Washington DC on issues concerning funding and access to services for people with disabilities. She was living at an Aspire Group home at the time of her death. She participated in several LGBT events, carrying the banner for a number of Gay Pride parades and advocating for inclusion of disabled people in that community. She was a visual artist, working in several mediums, most recently using computer-based graphics at Tech Today, to create her images, and her work was shown at the Impact Artists’ Gallery annual Fine Art, Healing and Health Show. She was most recently featured in the Artvoice “Give for Greatness” 2012 guide. The family will be present to receive friends Saturday April 21, 2012 from 10-11 AM at the LESTER H. WEDEKINDT INC. FUNERAL HOME, 3290 Delaware Ave., Kenmore, NY, with a memorial service to follow at 11 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Aspire of WNY or the Pride Center of WNY.

Creative Forum at the Gallery each month…

Creative Forum

Meets 2-5pm the fourth Friday of each month, for a unique networking experience among members. It is a new benefit to members (and their guests when attending). We can have constructive critiques, creativity discussions and exploration of new techniques to broaden creative vision. To keep it fresh and relevant to participants the topic each month will be determined by those who attended the meeting the previous month. The topics are intended to be as varied as our backgrounds with a focus on networking thru new creative eyes to enhance each others’ personal vision. Books on techniques in any media are requested to pass around and provided sources of new ideas. Any member who wants to share knowledge on any new technique is welcome to step forward. Anything new you are working on can be brought for show and tell. Come challenge yourself to stretch beyond current limits with stimulating creative energy and supportive artists around you.
