Drama and Healing
We enjoyed a discussion with Mary Kate O’Connell about how drama has great healing power.
She started a small theatre called: Cabaret in the Square and has gathered a group of local woman to perform in “Diva by Divas”. She explained how this show is organized. Women of many different backgrounds and abilities come together and she wrote a basic outline of the script with quotations about the lives of women, but each person can add songs if they want to do one.
The group can change from week to week as different people are available for a performance. They only have about a half hour to prepare for that night’s show!
I went to see the show with my daughter and I can vouch for the great enjoyment the show gives to both audience and performers.

Portrait Artist
The portrait artist told us a story about how he started drawing and it was inspirational.
He found joy in drawing and even though he had not been trained, he just tried sketching people and found ways to get people to sit for him. He has now done over one thousand portraits. He goes to church dinners or the Legion Clubs and sets up his booth. He just asks for a donatiion to cover his expenses. He finds great happiness and healing in drawing!
